According to a Welsh focus group, people with diabetes need more information to manage their condition. A research team at Boots Centre for Innovation in Swansea found that diabetics relished the chance to talk with each other and share advice .
The focus group was set up to try and appreciate life for those with diabetes, and also to select services and products that could help diabetics . Major issues included diet, weight management, foot care and medication.
Professor Kilpatrick of the Hull York Medical School reportedly commented: "The NHS aims to manage all type 2 diabetes through primary care in the future, which requires patients to be educated and empowered to manage their own health . This research showed the need for additional diabetes services to supplement those provided by the NHS ."
