According to a research team in America, a newly discovered hormone could help to improve treatment amongst people with type 2 diabetes . The metabolic hormone, known as Adiponectin, serves to regulate a variety of processes. These include glucose regulation and also the metabolism of fat for energy production.
The recent research showed that the levels of hormone present amongst type 2 diabetics could help to predict the ways in which patients respond to some diabetes drugs .
The study, which is published in the online edition of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics indicates that adiponectin could be used as a biomarker to monitor blood glucose tolerance.
