The Bayer Diabetes Care Didget blood glucose monitoring system has now been launched in the US, bringing the only blood glucose meter that connects directly with the Nintendo DS and DS Lite gaming systems . The meter should help children to manage their diabetes by building consistent testing and meeting blood glucose target ranges.
The Didget has previously been launched in the UK to acclaim. In America, the meter will be available to buy from CVS.com, Drugstore.com and Walgreens.com. Children with diabetes who already play handheld games can have their testing routine positively reinforced, and even get rewards such as new levels.
The Didget blood glucose meter has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration, and will now be available through leading pharmacies. The Nintendo DS and DS Lite are sold separately but are not required to use the DIDGET meter .
