Victoza may be a more effective diabetes drug than Januvia

According to a diabetes study published in medical journal The Lancet, diabetes drug Victoza is more effective than Januvia at reducing blood glucose levels amongst patients with type 2 diabetes . The study involved patients who had previously not responded to treatment to common diabetes drug Metformin .

The study, which was funded by the manufacturers of Victoza, Novo Nordisk, reportedly: "followed other positive comparative studies and would bolster Victoza's reputation among medical experts."

The study was research by Dr. Richard Pratley, the director of Diabetes and Metabolism Translational Medicine Unit at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, reportedly commented: "With so many patients still struggling to lower their blood sugar, Victoza represents an effective new option."
