The US Food and Drug Administration has approved a fresh new diabetes management system manufactured by Medtronic . The system combines an insulin pump with a blood glucose monitoring system. The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time Revel System will now be offered to patients.
Katie Szyman, the president of the diabetes business and senior vice president at Medtronic was reported as commenting: "The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time Revel System can help a patient [with diabetes] feel more secure by giving early warning of one of their greatest concerns, hypoglycemia, while continuing to simplify the complexity of diabetes management with easy-to-use features."
The new system includes insulin pump therapy and continuous blood glucose monitoring with alerts meaning patients can get early warning of too high or too low blood glucose levels . Patients with diabetes in America can discuss with their healthcare professionals whether this diabetes management system is suitable for them.
