According to American diabetes news, the next phase in assessing diabetes risk could be to use an online or telephone test. Undiagnosed diabetes is rife in America, with approximately 20 per cent of Americans suffering from pre-diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association .
Christine T. Tobin, the president of health care and education at the American Diabetes Association was reported as saying: "Look around you. We are surrounded by [diabetes] risk . We need to change the future of diabetes now. One of the first steps is to find out if you or a loved one is at risk for developing type 2 diabetes by taking the Diabetes Risk Test. Knowing your risk can be the first step towards stopping this dreadful disease."
March the 23rd is the ADA Alert Day, and the group are calling for people to take the Diabetes Risk Test either at stopdiabetes.com or 1-800-DIABETES . The test simply asks participants about their weight, age, family history and other potential risk factors.
