My kids had clinic today and their Hba1cs were both 6.6 ! They are normally pretty similar and I know if they vary dramatically I would feel a tad guilty that I achieved better control for one than the other. Still having the problems at night, but at least my lack of sleep is just a small price to pay for the results today.

My son is 8 and daughter 9, so I am managing them. I am worried about the teenage years as I know that their bloods will fluctuate more and also they will spend more time in the driving seat!! My husband also has type 1 so they have grown up in a house where blood testing and injections are the norm!!
I hope your daughter"s results are good. I know the worry of it all. My husband struggled to control his bloods when he was a teenager too and did not worry about it. Now he he is very well controlled and does work hard to do this.

I'm sure you will see improvements with pumping. Your daughters reading is excellent already so the pump should give you the tools to get even tighter control. More importantly it should make things easier for your daughter in terms of bolusing and not having to remember timings of injections.
My kids were also diagnosed in May 09!

Yes i remember you from when i used to post last year
The Hba1c of 7.2 was after a month of her dropping to 2.6 at random times every day so is a bit skewed! The 7.8 is much more reflective but her levels were just so erratic, they did calm down a bit after changing from Levemir to Insulatard but still had problems with night hypos which is why she was on the 'list' for a pump in the first place. Looking forward to more stability and no night hypos rather than tighter control, if that makes sense
It will be good for her because she won't have to ring me from school to work out corrections as the pump will do that for her, she is using the Accu Chek Combo. Had a problem yesterday afternoon/evening with possible cannula failure but i think we dealt with it ok!
