Some sort of fit!!

Postby Donna73 » October 30th, 2012, 9:52 pm

Hello Everyone

I have had a very scary experience. Whilst taking a bath I had some sort of fit. Shaking uncontrollably, I was conscious and able to mumble enough for my daughter to come into the bathroom. I thought it was just my head but apparently it was my whole body. Shaken I came downstairs took my bloods, I'd eaten an hour ago so it read 8.2.

It then happened a second time when sitting in the living room but not quite so long.

Is this diabetes related?? I have only been diagnosed for 4 or so months so relatively new to it all.

If anyone has any thoughts or advise I would very grateful.

Think my 15 year old daughter will need therapy after seeing me in the bath, poor kid, lol.

Thanks Donna x

Hello Donna, what a scary experience for you and your daughter (I don't mean seeing you in the bath :D ). It's vitally important that we don't automatically assume everything is diabetes related, some things are, some are not. In this instance I would be making an appointment with my GP as soon as is humanly possible. 8.2 shouldn't give you convulsions, please let your Doctor check you out.

Thanks Ali, apparently I have a serious infection stemming from eczema that has erupted on my legs, in bad cases it causes a thing called rigor which is uncontrollable shaking.

Hopefully a strong dose of antibiotics and steroids will do the trip.

Feel like I am falling apart at the minute and I don't hit forty until January, lol.

Thankfully I have an amazing family who support me.

I'm so pleased you got it sorted out, it had to be very unnerving for you.

Things will get better, I will be 47 in January, but if you saw me I look 10 years younger. I am fit, healthy and strong, no aches and pains, and bags of energy. This time last year I was almost 100lbs heavier and in a wheelchair. It's amazing what a change in lifestyle can achieve. I know not all will see the kind of changes I have, but I am living proof it can happen. Family support is second to none. I wouldn't have got nearly as far as I have without mine - treasure them. :D

oh dear, poor you. Glad you are getting treatment and hope you feel better soon. I am 41 and falling apart, sigh. Added lichen sclerosus to the list yesterday.
