Hi there, I have recently started gabapentin for neuropathic pain, has anyone else taken this, if so did it work?
The side effects list definitely makes for good bed time reading if nothing else LOL

Hi,
Yes I've taken Gabapentin for neuropathy, though it wasn't the one for me. While it got rid of the annoying sensations at night, it made me sleepy most of the day. Sometimes I was completely zonked. The neuropathy has been both painful and numbing at different times since the first occasion and I was given Amitriptyline tablets and Capsacin cream which were both quite effective. I think the cream was probably better overall, as there are no real side effects. I've recently had a below knee amputation which restarted the neuropathy again and I took Amitriptyline for about a month until it settled down again, and at the moment I only have the numbness in my remaining foot, which is easier to live with than the pain or tingling sensations that it can bring.
Type 1
Diagnosed July 1977
Using Levemir & Novrapid
With complications inc. retinopathy, neuropathy, CKD, PVD resulting in right BKA
