Hi mark.
All persons have to inform the DVLA 'if' they have to use insulin to treat their diabetes with.
They will send out an questionaire to fill in , part of this will ask for your specialist and GP details too.
They may well contact them also, [mine did with me]
Just be honest on the forms and leave the rest to them.
Regards re-applying for your bus license, you can ask your DSN this question or ask the DVLA or ask your bus company ?
Hope this helps?
Anna.x :)

Victoza/Hypurin porcine isophane insulin

Hi Mark.
I cant steer you with an answer to this question you have raised, as I only drive a car n not a bus !
Wouldnt mind having a go though - bet it would be fun ...
Coudlnt you ask a trusted work collegue if they might know?
Or give the DVLA a call and ask them ?
Hope this helps ?

I am just about to reapply for the categories on my licence to enable me to drive a 7.5 ton horsebox, I am Type 1 but passed my test prior to 1997. The questionnaire is quite long and I feel is loaded. Anyway I'll do my best, having bought the horsebox I now want to drive it. You need to have a medical with your GP and also input from your Diabetic Consultant and demonstrate 3 months blood glucose testing on a meter.

In November 2011 the DVLA brought in new rules for diabetics, I'm sure it has probably been discussed on here, in that if you have 2 episodes in 12 months of hypos that require assistance you have your licence taken away never to be returned. Now I may have got that wrong but I was told this when I had my consultant appointment a fortnight ago.

Good luck

I'am a type 1 diabetic since december 2010 insulin dependant where i inject twice a day and the DVLA has restricted my liecence to a 3 year liecence and i passed my test back in 1979 and i passed my HGV2 in 2003 of which i had this taken away from me
Can you please inform me if i can get my entitlement back to drive HGV2 VEHICLES as this would open up a whole new set of employment oppotuities many thanks :?

Some information here...

I've just had to stop coach driving for a while as I've just gone onto insulin from tablets.

Good luck
Angie

You cannot drive a HGV or bus(even a minibus) if you have type2, nevermind type1. I've been driving 25years but lost my job when entitlement to drive minibuses was withdrawn in 1997. Still drive my car, 78miles round trip, to A LOWER PAID JOB! every day without a crash.

When the law was changed on November 2011 I applied to get my PCV returned, now after 13 months I am still waiting for it due to the total incompetence of that organisation in South Wales.
As far I can see they are deliberately stopping people from getting back to work, while at the same time people who have been convicted of drink driving dont have any problems.Doesnt make any sense to me,obviously it is time to close this place down and find somewhere that can do the job properly.
