The PenMate from NovoNordisk is a tool to help people who either have needle phobia or need a hand to get used to giving themselves injections (a lot of children use them).

Helps reduce pain from injections

As the company states, the PenMate 'increases confidence and reduces pain.'

Called an 'automatic needle insertion accessory', it takes the unpleasantness out of self-injection by helping to hide the needle during the injection process. Available on prescription.

It's possible that certain distributors may have product remaining, such as Diabetes.co.uk's, but you'd need to contact the manufacturer mark to be certain as to whether the needles are still being produced or not.

The 4mm needles were great for me when injecting into thighs (as I am thin), but today my Chemist told me that they are no longer available and therefore was given 5mm. Is this correct (as I could buy 4mm from this site)?

Every time I inject my stomach with insulin I end up with a bruise or I bleed. How can I stop this?

I agree with @John - I have used Innovo for years now and it is far and away the best insulin pen that has ever been produced as it is not bulky and has the excellent lcd memory system. However, I am now down to my last one as the others have steadily broken and this one is on its last legs. I am very disappointed Novo withdrew this pen.

I have used 'innovo' ever since its introduction - a brilliant device especially for someone who is forgetful and needs a device that indicates the quantity last injected and when. This product has been withdrawn, I understand because Novo did not want to have to take them back as the new EU rules on electronic devices requires. I am hope they can bring it or a better device back soon.

The Pen Mate is a great thing to have. I've been diabetic since I was 3 and I've always had a problem with needles. I first got given a pen mate when I was pregnant with my first child because I had a problem reaching to do my injection and this really helped. It has made my life a lot easier and I have now been using it for over 8 years. If you didn't know that it had a needle inside you would never be able to tell because you cant feel the needle entering the skin. Great item!
