I am a Diabetic and I'm coming up to my yearly appointment to get my bloods done feet Ang eyes but I very rarely see a nurse or a Dr, from one yr to the next really makes me feel more than a number, as I just give up I only visit a Dr when I'm admitted to hospital I just cope on my own I know when my sugars are high and reduce it and when my sugar is low to increase one really disgruntled patient thank you for this forum for advice I receive x

Has anybody had the same experience of annoying persistent people? Such as... When people see what you eat, the reaction from them is "Ohhh just have one piece of cake, it won't hurt" or when out having a meal at their home or with them at a restaurant some will say "OMG is that all you are having? What no potatoes, just veg, and meat what is the point in eating out?" another is...If you do have just one piece of cake is "Are you sure that you should have that?" Even though you may not have...

So there's goodness-knows how many people on this forum alone, more or less all saying the NHS (NICE) guidelines are wrong in that:

- T2's need access to BG testing facilities
- Obesity doesn't specifically cause diabetes
-Metformin is miserable
- Carbs are the enemy.
- The Eatwell Plate is wrong.
- NHS diabetes education is outdated.

There seems to be no standard approach when it comes to how the NHS treats patients; some are offered education and some are not. Some are given meters (but...

Hi dont know if this is in the right place but here goes. I was just wondering if been diabetic affects anyone sex life ?
I myself was afraid to have sex when i was first diagnosed then after a few months i started to drink lucozade if i thought sex was on the cards. I have suffered several times with hypos during sex and its not a great turn on for either me or my partner when all we can think about is weather i am going to have a hypo or not. Does this effect anyone else or is it just me...

Hi people,

Being as the diabetic problem is a global problem it makes me wonder why different areas assign different number systems. In the UK 5 is not bad whereas in the USA 90 is deemed not bad. I admit after a few years it gets easier to convert but wish my meter did it automatically.

My annual review was this morning and I had been given one of the new container kits for my customary urine sample. As I wasn't certain how to use it I went on line and ended up on the website of Elkay the suppliers. There weren't any instructions but there was a price list and believe it or not these kits are on sale for £132 each!! When I worked with the benzo.org group many years ago, I was aware of the dangerous withdrawal from clonazepam, more so than the other benzos-- e.g. Xanax. The effects on me after one month w/d was clonic seizures. I learned that you cannot get off this drug.

Just finished reading "The Food Revolution" by Dr Andreas Eenfeldt MD, aka Diet Doctor. It was really good.
