Since the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in my 2.5 year old beautiful daughter 4 months ago, I wonder where are the support articles telling all the amazing parents the ups and downs of dealing with this disease 24/7 and how well they are all doing.<br />
I see nothing so I am writing this as &quot;I know&quot; so many can relate and find this as a support knowing they are not alone.<br />

I have an 11yr old type 1 daughter. We currently live in Zambia and her exposure to other type 1 kids is extremely limited. There are no clubs, trips or meetings etc that she would have elsewhere. I work in the same school she goes to so she has been coming to me every lunchtime to get her insulin, snack time or special events with extra food etc. She is now moving to Grade 6 and will have a school trip in Sept. She was really quite unwell as me and my wife had no idea what was wrong with her. we put the weight loss down to puberty and just that she was beginning to lose her puppy fat. It eventually got to the point where we took her to hospital, she was admitted for 3 days, we felt like the worst parents ever and this is where we are now. <br />
She&#039;s doing great though and her bloods are fine, diabetic team and consultants are really happy...<br />

I am also T1 so understand a fair bit already but am struggling with the toddler aspect. So far we are dosing her insulin after meals with agreement from her specialist nurse so we don&#039;t give her insulin for food she decides she doesn&#039;t want to eat. <br />

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas on no/low carb snacks I can send my son to school with.<br />
At the moment we have been sending cucumber, cheese or a little bit of chopped up peppers for when he is in his higher range but most of the time it ends up coming home uneaten and gets wasted.<br />
Would like to find some other ideas of some perhaps foods we could send as it&#039;s probably quite boring for him eating the same things all the time and also something that could be just left in his bag...<br />

he seems to be suffering from this uncontrollable rage since his diagnosis and its really taking a toll on us,we dont know what to do for the best.<br />

My main concern had been night checks because my daughters levels are very up at the best of times and because of the change of food and lots of exercise I had asked the school to carry out a check at about 3am. Staff agreed to this and assured me that everything would be ok. They felt confident as they had two junior doctors on the trip to help out....<br />
