I am new to this thread and really starting to panic.<br />
Unbeknownst to me I had been having Hba1C levels of up to 48 for the past 6mths possibly plus but I did not know until the GP was doing a review of patients.  Was tested a week ago and got the result this day last week - Hba1C 53 !!!!.  Have to be tested again in 2 weeks but I am determined that I will not start metformin<br />

Am I being delusional or can I really make a difference in 7-10 days?  I have cut out everything starchy...<br />

One reading that puzzled me was those taken 5 hours after his egg noodle lunch consisting of roughly 50-60 gms carb. Get readings like 5.6-5.8mmol. Yet his fasting reading is 6.3-6.5mmol. <br />

Doc obviously recommends losing some weight, ideally about a stone and half and I have been signed up for the NHS diabetes prevention course but it hasn&#039;t started yet. I had a blood test last week to test for diabetes (I&#039;m severely obese). Tests came back with a reading of 47 mmol/mol.<br />
Doctor is referring me to the local obesity clinic for help with losing weight, but she didn&#039;t mention anything else about the diabetes apart from losing weight will help...  <br />

I haven&#039;t had an official diagnosis of pre diabetes but am very worried I am heading that way.  I am young (30), but overweight (90kg) and with high blood pressure (regularly 158/101 ish).       <content:encoded><![CDATA[Sorry if I&#039;ve missed some glaringly obvious answers, but could someone please explain to me when the 2 hours  countdown starts ?<br />
Is it 2 hours after you start eating or is it two hours after taking your last bite ?  And what about your glass of red wine after your meal ?  Is it 2 hours after you&#039;ve just drained your glass ?<br />
The reason I ask is because I usually linger over a meal and it can often be as much as an hour from the first forkful to the last drop of wine.<br />

I am a 26 year old male. I wondered if please anyone could help me. I was getting very tired in the day the last few years, so I purchased a blood sugar level kit to see what my blood sugar level was as I thought I might have diabetes. I have been testing it daily for a few weeks, and often find a couple of hours after lunch, it is ranging 3.4 -4.<br />

Thought I was losing a bit of weight and with healthier diet my score would go down from the 46 it was last year. Gone up to 47. Gonna have to try harder for the next year. I was told by the surgery receptionist last week that I was borderline pre-diabetic and I should have a healthy diet and review in 6 months for another blood test. I know my surgery is going down the pants when you are called like this. I was in shock.
