      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Hi, I was diagnosed in September 2016. I was put on a mix insulin for a couple of months. Then I decided to change to basal / bolus, I am now using novorapid and lantus. <br />
<br />
My contraception pill is for 21 days, then I have a seven day period break. My problem is everyday my insulin requirements change. I can go from using 9 units of lantus up to 12 units and novorapid 0.5 units per 10g carbs up to 2 units per 10g carbs. <br />

Is plays havoc with my numbers and I am finding it so difficult to...<br />

I got.my HBA1C test back at a 45..Which on my letter she says this is excellent? No idea what this means<br />

The next part of the letter shows said that my bloods show a Boderline underactive thyroid and I am to have tests for this in 6 weeks and then a meeting with my consultant. Does anyone else have this? How does it effect diabetes and your life? If im put on thiroxin what are the side effects etc??<br />

My first freestyle libre starter pack arrived today and my husband decided to push the blue collar on the applicator to see how hard I&#039;d have to push it on my arm and it sprung in , now the sensor is in the applicator and I can&#039;t push the applicator on my arm as it&#039;s already pushed in ,<br />
Any way to pop out the blue collar so I can use that sensor. ?<br />

Last night I had an error which the app suggests could be because of the transmitter attachment, after it hadn&#039;t cleared for a while I restarted my iPhone and Bluetooth and it reconnected.   But it has now happened again.   <br />

Today I&#039;ve had 3 ciders and I haven&#039;t gave myself any insulin apart from correction doses and carbing for my food.  My blood sugar was quite high (18). I just don&#039;t know how to manage alcohol with t1 and I really need some help. Right now I&#039;m scared to go to sleep in case I have a severe hypo in the night from the alcohol I drank. A little confused by differing opinions on tiredness for type 1s. I am very tired a lot. I have no underlying conditions and no deficiencies and sleep and eat fine. My sugars are largely under control aside from the odd blip or really hot weather like we have just had. My DSN has said that its just part of the condition which is totally ok but.....when on this forum, people tend to say that we shouldnt be tired just because of diabetes so I am a bit confused.<br />

V excited to be trying out the Freestyle Libre sensor for the first time.  I&#039;ve only had it on for an hour and finger pricking tells me I&#039;m just under 5 mmol/l.  The sensor tells me I&#039;m just under 3mmol/l.  Is it usual for it to be inaccurate for a short while after initial application?  Also, any recommendations for the least expensive method for getting my next one?<br />

I have never heard of many doing this..<br />

Insulatard at 4am<br />
Insulatard at 8am<br />
Also Novorapid at 8am.<br />

3 injections to cope with rises from DP and getting out of bed..<br />
<br />
Also on tresiba injection at night.<br />
<br />
Is there anybody else on forum that wakes up early (4hours before actually waking) to counteract rises? <br />

I&#039;ve just had major surgery on my abdomen and have been instructed to rest as much as possible for the next 2 weeks.......I&#039;m literally moving to go to the toilet and walk to the table. <br />

My blood sugars have started to raise, presumably as I&#039;m not burning off any energy. <br />
<br />
Do you think I need to increase how much insulin I&#039;m using as obviously I&#039;m likely to heal better if my sugars are good.  For added info I carb count. <br />
