I was caring for my elderly brother for over 12 months as his wife had passed away, so my low carb diet was pushed to one side.<br />
What a shock I got when i went for my hba1c 18th May and the results came back as 69. I then saw the DN on 6th July and had another hba1c test and kidney function test. The DN wanted to put me unto one tablet a day, also statins as my cholesterol is out of normal...<br />

My research showed that a small percentage of T2Ds on LCHF diets develop high cholesterol.<br />

Does anybody know of a metformin substitute that does not have the same side effects. I have tried Glucophase and  Sukkarto slow release but both have given me upset stomach which is not good when you drive for a living <br />

I went away on holiday over 3 months ago - came home having put on around half a stone - since then I have not managed to shift any of it and slowly over the past couple of months my carbs intake has been slipping as well.<br />

Usually, after exercise, I got the shakey weak feeling; once I had something to eat I was ok after about 20 minutes.<br />

Asked my doctor could I be diabetic? After a blood test, I was given the all clear.<br />

It didn&#039;t happen all the time just now and again; as I suffer from Anxiety I put it down to some kind of mild panic attack.<br />
