  Hello Bernie, I too was recently diagnosed and am always hungry and thirsty. I was on Metformin for a month, 500 mg morning and evening, blood/sugar 16.4 - it did not improve. 2 weeks ago it was doubled, it dropped to about 15. Saw my GP yesterday and he has referred me to a consultant , it doesn't seem to improve. I can see me ending up on insulin.
