    Contraceptive Implant

I think the injection works in the same way as the implant, it releases progesterone to stop you ovulating. So if the injection doesnt have much impact on your control that might be good news for the OP considering the implant.

    Protein powder conundrum

Levemir lasts about 12 hours. A 17unit dose might las a bit longer. But if you're taking it in the evening basal testing might show its run out by early afternoon, when you're having your protein shake. I was advised to take one shot of levemir am and one pm to cover the whole day, but it's...

Type 2 Snacks in between meals?

Have you tested your blood sugar to check what your levels actually are when you feel hypoglycaemic? If you actually are hypo, then a low carb snack isn't the best thing to have to treat a hypo. To treat a hypo you need 10-15g of fast acting carbs, followed by at least 10g of complex carbs.

    Protein powder conundrum

Have you basal tested to see if you're on the right basal dose? If you're not, that could be playing a part in the rise. Here's a good guid on how to basal test - https://mysugr.com/basal-rate-testing/

    DIane Course

I think DIANE is the Diabetes Insulin Adjustment for Normal Eating course for type 1 diabetics. Are you on insulin @h884 ? If not, most of what's covered on the course will be irrelevant to you. If your diabetic clinic has advised you to consider attending the course then they obviously think it...

    Diagnosed and confused.

The symogi effect refers to going hypo and then bouncing up to a high blood sugar because your body has reacted to the hypo. Are you on any medication that would cause hypos? If not, it's highly unlikely you are having any symogi. On the 10 days when you've had high fasting readings is there...

    How to handle being different

@IC_81 diabetes uk and JDRF are good charities to have a look at to see if they do anything in your area where your son could meet others with diabetes. JDRF is a type 1 charity and they do walks and runs and discovery days on the progress towards a cure. Diabetes UK covers all types of...

    Success at last

Hba1c was discovered in 1968 and started being used to routinely monitor diabetic control in labs from 1977. It started being used more widely in the 80s but it wasn't until 1993 and the publication of the Diabetes Contol and Complications Trial that the importance of hba1c to monitor diabetic...

    Hospital

Your urine albumin is 32.4. It should really be under 30. So it's a tiny bit in excess of the reference range. You should ask for a referral to a kidney clinic to have investigations into the health if your kidneys, like I say it's only a tiny bit in excess of the reference range so a 24hr urine...

    My insulin is not working.

60g of iceberg lettuce - 2g carbs 60g chia seeds - 25g carbs 1 can of tuna - no carbs 4 strawberries - 2g carbs So say 30g carbs. You took 5units. So does a 1:6 ratio sound about right? Is that what you're aiming for or is that a ratio you've discounted by previous experience? Poor sleep can...

    My insulin is not working.

Sorry if you think there was 500 questions. Or if you think it was rude. It certainly wasn't intended to be. I'm not sure how it was taken as rude, but I apologise. What are you putting in your salad that has no carbs? I'm sure some of the keto people would love the recipe. I hope you...

    My insulin is not working.

What was your blood sugar before the salad or the curry? Did you bolus and then eat or did you pre bolus? You know salad will have some carbs in it, right? Unless you're eating an air salad. Spinach has 4g per 100g, if you had dressings, radishes tomatoes corn they have carbs too. If you were...

Type 2 Type 2 and hypos?

@Loukay1 if your diabetic nurse says it sounds like a hypo has she given you a test kit to check your blood sugars when you're having these symptoms? If not, some type2 members will be able to advise on monitors to purchase.

    Protein powder conundrum

But you've had 30g carbs. If you've got 30g of carbs, your body isnt going to bother going to all the trouble of gluconogenesis so there should be no need to bolus for protein.

    Which pump??

Where are you based @Bhaumik84 ? It's very unusual for a type 2 diabetic to be prescribed an insulin pump in the NHS. What is your total daily dose of insulin? The omnipod lasts 3 days but only holds 200 units, so if you are on more than 66units per day it might not be suitable.
