    Low carb bread find

Thank you......this looks like a better recipe than the one I have, so I’ll give it a try.

    Low carb bread find

Not sure if this has been mentioned before - I used to buy the low carb seeded rolls from Lidl, but since they were discontinued I have been searching for bread comparably low in carbs. I even made my own which was low carb but had a funny aftertaste (although toasted fine) I’ve recently ordered...

    Disastrous results

It sounds like you may be a Lean Mass Hyper Responder. If you do Facebook, Dave Feldman has a LMHR group (that’s the name of the group) and you can join and ask all the questions you like. He is studying it in detail and some of his findings are very interesting .........his hunch, although as...

What is your latest cholesterol level?

Total 8.4 LDL 5.0 HDL 3.1 Trigs 0.6 HbA1c between 37 and 40 over the last 5 years. My cholesterol has risen steadily over the last 5 years that I’ve been doing low carb eating. Mind you, trigs have stayed the same, and most of the rise is my LDL, although my HDL has risen a bit too (it’s super...

Rise in BG - what is acceptable

As I’ve shelled out for a Libre for 2 weeks I’m trying out different foods from the usual - things I’d like to eat but haven’t for the last few years because although I might catch an initial spike from finger prick testing I wouldn’t get the whole picture. Im prediabetic (hba1c now normal...

    Cholesterol levels high

How interesting - yes I tick all the boxes for lipids, my body fat is around 23% but I’m not super skinny or an athlete. But yes that sounds like my results exactly. I’ll look more into it, thank you!

    Cholesterol levels high

Hopefully doctors are learning to take the bits that are important and discard the other bits. As you say makes no sense to have scary red letter warning and then below that all the ratios are tip-top green! They should just say the ratios are the most important part to note.

    Cholesterol levels high

Thanks, feeling more positive now. My doc didn’t push the statins last time, and total cholesterol was high then (7.9) and most of the rise this time to 8.4 has been HDL so that’s encouraging. I’ve never cheated since I started eating low carb 3 years ago, eat extremely healthily (my hubby looks...

    Cholesterol levels high

I’ve just had my latest cholesterol levels done. (57 years old female) thanks to advice from this group I’ve been eating very low carb for the last 3 years since I was diagnosed prediabetic with an Hba1c of 45. It’s now 38/39 and has stayed that way for the last 3 years - I have lost 3 stone as...

    Protein bread

It looks like Asda has discontinued this bread, I’ve been in to a couple of stores and they say they’re not stocking it any more and it’s showing as unavailable on their website. Such a shame, I’d finally found something tasty and low enough in carbs after Lidl stopped doing their rolls and...

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

I’ve just spoken to someone in Lidl Customer service, I rang them on the number posted above. I asked them why the rolls aren’t on the shelves, and was told it’s a manufacturing issue. They say they are extremely popular and they have been getting LOADS of calls about them from disappointed...

    Rising blood sugar trend

Well I’ve just had my latest HbA1c results back, and it’s still rising, it’s now back up to 40. Still normal I know, which is better than my prediabetic diagnosis st 45, but frustrating. I had managed to get it down from 45 to 39 and then 37 over the last 2 years (6 monthly retests) but last...

    Rising blood sugar trend

I just checked the batch numbers on the tubs, and yes, they are the same. I tend to order 10 tubs at once because it’s cheaper that way. I’ve just rechecked my fasting blood with new strips with a different batch number and it’s actually gone up from 6.0 to 6.2. Statistically insignificant, I...

    Rising blood sugar trend

Thanks for the suggestion. I test 5 times a day, so a batch of strips only lasts me about 10 days. This has been going on for 2 months or so. Every time I open a new tub of strips I hope they’ll show me new lower readings and the others will have been a blip, but I’ve gone through around 6 tubs...
