    Asking To Go On Insulin

I have had two rounds of gestational diabetes which has left me with type 2 In my first pregnancy I was on 1000mg of slow release metformin, and diet controlled for 9 weeks. I basically ate 10g of carbs per day. I was miserable. In my second pregnancy I was diagnosed much earlier, tried to...

How to control fasting reading with gestational diabetes

Try a nature valley protein cereal bar... Poundland had the packs for £1 last week so I cleared the shelf lol! They don't really move my bloods, they keep it steady... I've read that they don't work for some, so it's trial and error. And theyre very tasty, unlike most of the things you try to...

    GD: Horrific metformin side effects

@BettyCat I'm on my second pregnancy with gestational diabetes. I came here this morning for a cry and a moan but I think you need to cry and moan even more. I would have said that I had severe side effects with metaformin. I went 8 weeks without going to the toilet, and the farts? Oh dear...

    Newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes

If, one hour after you eat, your levels are less then the 7.8, then you can continue to eat as you are. As the pregnancy progresses the hormones ramp up and the intolerance to some carbs might increase. Just keep up with the readings. Good luck :)

2nd pregnancy with GD 20+6 on insulin this time.. hypos?

I'm so sorry I'm only coming back now. Its been a mental few weeks. The goal posts changed and I need a lot more insulin than at the start. I went away and taught myself about carb counting, something no one had mentioned in any of my appointments and used my breakfast toast to determine my...

2nd pregnancy with GD 20+6 on insulin this time.. hypos?

Hey folks. This is my second pregnancy with gestational diabetes. My first was born on 16/2/16 and I breastfed until the new year, when I discovered I was pregnant with baby 2, due in July. In pregnancy one I was very stubborn and refused to go onto insulin, it's very difficult to get any...

Pregnant: New to GD - Breakfast!?!

Also, I don't know if it's available in the mainland, but I use irwins 7 seeded bread, one slice with an extreme amount of sun pat no added sugar peanut butter, that takes me to about 7.8, that was before insulin, so for someone who is tolerating better it might be an option :)
