Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

BS on waking was 5.9 Got up at 9:30, 2 coffees with cream BS at 13:00 was 6.1. Had brunch of a 3 egg omelette with parmesan and onion and one slice of gluten free crispbread with more butter :-) In the afternoon had a pot of earl grey tea with small splashes of skimmed milk (had guests, I...

    Metformin

I was always forgetting to take my second dose and my DN swapped me to the slow release version so I take it all in one go. I've played around with timings and find it most effective if I take it in the evening, after my evening meal and before I go to bed. Good luck

Lyxumia not working. Options? Bydureon? Victoza?

Hi, this was a while ago, in early March I think? Doesn't time fly! Basically the side effects were very bad. Awful headache and nausea, so bad I stayed in bed all day a couple of days. Not good. And with no impact on my numbers. I got approval to change to Bydureon and was just about to go...

    High morning sugars

Can you try a libre continuous blood glucose monitor? Even for just 2 weeks? I bought one and was really surprised by the results. Finger prick tests show you so little in comparison. Just snapshots. I'm good all night and then it rockets up as I get out of bed. I'm T2 and am finding that LCHF...

    Can't seem to stop eating

Totally agree with this. I've you're craving something sweet or carby have something low carb but fatty. The 'naughtier' feeling the better. No carbs or sugar but peanut butter or a piece of cheese is my go to. Blue cheese if I want something extra tasty. I stay away from nuts as I sometimes I...

    Postal Insulin and C-Peptide test

Great info, thanks David. I've been eating keto, so 20 to 30 net grams of carbs a day. My understanding is that LCLF is pretty dangerous as without the fat your body starts to burn protein as energy, and uses your muscles. Starting with your heart! You say you're on 'lower' carbs? How many net...

    Postal Insulin and C-Peptide test

Hi all, I've been LCHF fora couple of months now, have lost over a stone (yay!) but my bloods are still averaging over 8 and I get a massive morning rise (boo). I know my DN will suggest insulin as a next move, but I suspect I'm massively insulin resistant and probably have too much insulin in...

"Feet on Floor" Blood Sugar Raise, advice pls

Hello, How are you getting on with this? I am having the same trouble. From my libre I am 5ish all night, and then within minutes of getting up I shoot up to mid 8s and stay there most of the day. I too am eating lchf and only taking metformin (in the morning with breakfast). I am pretty...

Aaargh... Pulled Libre sensor off by accident :-(

And what you don't know is that it was one of my own honey bees... I was 15 foot away from the hive, gardening, when one took offence at my presence. It would definitely have looked hilarious...

Aaargh... Pulled Libre sensor off by accident :-(

Type 2 Beta Cell Function worry

Insulin is needed to metabolise carbs and protein, If you're limiting these you won't need the insulin. Your blood glucose is not high, you don't need insulin. Well done :-) Which test did you use? It would be useful for me too I think.

    Hello, how's the weather?

Hello, yes I'm in the West of Ireland and it's pretty gnarly today... due a gale and very heavy rain in the next few hours. Well done on your weightloss and taking control :-) Yes I was headed down the increasing drug prescription route but have veered off into lchf after I did some research...
