    Type 3c and eating wrong!

The damage that diabetes can cause is extreme - a point which often seems to be ignored by many. My sister is a Podiatrist. She regularly used to see the extreme damage in her clinic - diabetic ulcers on legs and feet, wounds slow to heal, and yes in some cases amputations, both of toes and...

    Reversing T2 With Supplements

Can I just say, very well done to get to your BG levels! I use Gymnema Sylvestra to control my sweet tooth and Bitter Melon. I may never get away from diabetes since I'm on Steroids (due to myasthenia gravis) but If I manage to get off them it may happen!

Feeling despondent, not sure what to do.

(forgive me if you have already done this), but have you tried fasting also? When I had 4+ stone to lose, I used to do this on a Sunday. Have your normal meal on a Saturday night and then don't eat until Sunday night. Not that hard to do. (just distract yourself with things to do and drink...

    The Miserable Itch

All I can further say is, if the itching hasn't disappeared when your BG levels have improved, ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist. GP's are after all only a General practitioner, not a specialist in skin conditions.

    The Miserable Itch

I'm going to assume they've done skin checks for things such as fungal infections or scabies? Really silly question I know, but have they checked your blood count? My mum, (who does not have diabetes) had persistently itching skin (doctors of course gave various creams) and then finally did...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

    A more acceptable 4.1 today

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.5 today - not much sleep (and naughty Sunday potatoes for tea at the parents). I seem to have dodged the bullet - been for diabetic eye screening today - which looks good. Phew! One more thing ticked off the list.

What Is It With Statin Drugs And Doctors?

I'm off the hook for the next 3 months with my doctor - we had a discussion today because of my thyroid levels (which aren't quite right yet) and as she said if the levels aren't correct, they can affect your cholesterol levels. I did point out that there was also contra indications of statins...

    Low Carb Low Fat?

You need your fats! Portion size is more a thing to look at. Also listening to your body when it says that it is full is a good indicator. I, like many others used to overeat (and not think anything of it). After going low carb (and portion control), I have found that I don't need so much to...

Hovis Nimble bread v Low Carb bread

I'm in the minority but I'm afraid the Lidl rolls just taste like cardboard to me! Nimble at least has some flavour to it.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.8 today. Got my latest HBA1C today - 48. So room for improvement. Got ticked off for not having my cholesterol checked and because I won't take statins. Ah well, so not too traumatic a visit to the docs!

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

A bit low for my taste at 3.8 today (whenever I'm this low I always feel a bit detached emotionally from everything). Very odd.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.6 this morning. Feels like I'm all over the show this week. Ah well, we shall see what the results bring in my diabetic review next week at the docs.

    SICKNESS

I felt vaguely nauseated from the word go - and ended up with sickness and diarrhoea after 3 weeks. Gave it up and stuck with gliclizade with no ill affects. It seems to be a personal thing whether we can stomach Metformin or not. :arghh:

    Fasting 24 hrs +

When I had gastroenteritis I did a 48 hours without any problems. Just make sure you keep an eye on your BS levels. Flat lemonade came on my menu! Look at your portion size also. You may remember that you will not see the effect of your fasting for probably a couple of weeks.
