Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

They aren't sure yet -the annoying thing about signing up to the forum here is that it won't let you sign up without knowing... I was only diagnosed on Fri 16 June so should know soon. I've also been given a blood ketone meter for if I read over 15 and I can't move for professionals testing...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Have you been to a diabetic clinic? Went to my first one yesterday and they've got me testing 7 times a day and said 'it's imperative you know your levels before and after meals'.

    Should I be worried

Very similar for me - I think other people are a lot more worried than I am as it sort of doesn't feel real yet (diagnosed just over a week ago). I'm letting it sink in, staying positive and not trying to overthink anything. Trying to eat better, test religiously and follow all the instructions...

    It's all moving fast!

1 week and one day since the first diagnosis and I'm feeling really excited about getting on and tackling it head on. Retrospectively I can see that I was really tired and was urinating a lot but didn't think anything of it. Wednesday I was prescribed metformin and I've started to stabilise...

    Results are in (sort of)

Yeah we seem pretty similar! I tested 5.8 today post pranial which is mad considering before I was on medication and before I was doing my best to keep sugar and carb intake down I was testing as high as 19. Still a lot of work to go seeing as I jumped from 6 to 16 after dinner yesterday. Good...

    Results are in (sort of)

It's a week since my first blood test 'to see why you have high blood pressure', and I'm now a certified diabetic. I've been given metformin and also lisinopril for kidney function and blood pressure. I have been referred to a specialist unit at the local hospital, an ultrasound to check my...

    It's all moving fast!

That's really useful! Honestly I had no idea what I was doing on Friday - my strips and lancets are the first things I've ever had on prescription so even that was a learning curve. Starting to feel more confident that I understand my sugary sweet blood haha

    It's all moving fast!

Should be fun - seems if I eat nothing it goes down to 9, but if I eat anything (loose leaf salad and a pint of water) it happily goes back up to 12. Anything with sugar or carbs of course sends it up to 14-17. Fasting morning readings have been about 12-15. Had a couple of beers and nothing...

    It's all moving fast!

I've been avoiding carbs and still reading high - the lowest I go is 9 after not eating for 6-7 hours. Looking forward to tomorrow for an action plan.

    It's all moving fast!

Thank you that's very reassuring. I've been hitting 17 after meals so hope medication from Weds will help. Just a shock and a new world of things to think about that as of 1030 on Friday I didn't know very much at all about. End mope.

    It's all moving fast!

You too. I have an ultrasound for liver and 'anything else unusual'. Enjoy your holiday. I'm at work this week and wish I wasn't so I could just get on with it all.

    It's all moving fast!

Good positive stuff yes I agree. Trying not to panic just very much in the wilderness.

    It's all moving fast!

Thank you! This is all awesome. I had a HbA1C reading of high seventies, still reading 14-17 with outliers. Can't wait for Wednesday.

    It's all moving fast!

Thanks - yeah interesting seems the best way to take it. I'm looking forward to finding out what I need to do. Feel very much in limbo!

    It's all moving fast!

So I signed up to a new doctor because of a house move 2 weeks ago, in the routine new patient check they noticed my blood pressure was a little elevated so last week ran some blood tests. I'm a 26yo steady healthy weight, no health complaints myself. Friday I was called in urgently in the...
