Hi
Totally different reason for digestion problems, have you spoken to your GP, you might need to go on to replacement enzymes but will need tests.
Had had a bit of problem re vagus nerve, but it was causing me to faint every time I vomit (I do this a lot due to panc damage and other organs joining the party) still trying to stop the vomiting but medication is stoping the fainting

Is this the same thing as gastroparesis? If so, there are quite a few different threads about both gastroparesis and slow transit issues elsewhere on the forum.

Yes, I have slow colonic transit but not through high bloods. Just unfortunate.

High blood levels can occur from faeces becoming impacted and then levels can drop when movement is passed.

It can be swings and roundabouts with finding foods to help.

I'm currently only on soups or scrambled eggs due to high amount of opoid drugs I'm on.

Have you had slow colonic or gastroparesis officially confirmed?

One of my "silly" GPs gave me lactulose to help-knowing I was diabetic- but it should have been dulcolax. This unfortunately for me has saccharin in it.

I also have a supply of enemas which are called phosphates enema BP.. Huge hospital sized ones...

Sorry to tell you but my levels have always been on the lower end and it didn't stop it happening to me.. But sometimes this can also be idiopathic, so in my case may not have been directly linked to the diabetes.

It is horrible and I hugely empathise with you.

First off then, if I was back in your situation again I would try and follow a low Fodmap diet....
Write down the foods you eat each day and when you manage a poo.

You need this if you can get a refferal to a gastroenterologist anyway.

I already have a diagnosis of SCT but I have been back to my GP today and because I have moved house 4 months ago I had previously asked this new GP twice to be referred back to a gastro person. Today, armed with a calendar with everything listed on it-poo, dulcolax, food, morphine, diazepam doses etc... And photos of poo on my camera. I have got an immediate referral now...

We explained this morning that nobody else has to do this and asked if he thought this was normal, nice, living when you have to write down every food, every poo just to try and live a normal life....

I do so empathise... I would suggest looking and trying a low fodmap diet for a few weeks, eat small regular amounts of food. Write everything down...then go back to GP.

It is important to look at the foods you eat. Ie people with IBS, slow colonic, gastroparesis should try to avoid onion in anything.. Its hard to do... Same with garlic. I love those two foods myself but have to check everything for them.. Having to make own gravy stock, avoiding lactose yogurts etc...

Stomach bloating is awful too. I also have photos of this to show my gastro chap when I get re referred again...

Get everything logged (ha!!) and then go back to GP and ask for a referral if nothing improves...

Also if you notice higher bloods on certain days-log this as well.

Hi, hope you feel better soon. I have been suffering Gastroparesis for over a year now and is a complication of diabetes. My food digestion can be slow and my blood sugars have been erratic. I take Metoclopramide and this seems to settle it down. I am waiting to see a Gastroenterologist.

You don't necessarily get vomiting.. It can include nausea and reflux...

My main symptoms were nausea, vomiting, acid reflux and feeling full up easily. Observations were BGs low then a delayed rush of glucose being dumped into my blood causing hyperglycaemia.

I'd add that "Diabetic Stomach" is quite a common problem and avoiding too much variability in your glucose levels and keeping them steady within a "close to normal range" seems to be the best way to manage it effectively. I notice that when I have periods of blood glucose levels that are not as flat as I'd like, my rate of transit is very clearly slower than when I am maintaining a much more steady basis.

I sympathise. Following LCHF has almost sorted my IBS over night and best of all no more bloating. I once took Ducolax and the results were awful-very bad hypo, shaking, sweating, lying on cold bathroom floor. I never, ever want to feel like that again. I think they should come with a health warning.

Slow colonic and gastroparesis can be idiopathic..
Do NOT jump to conclusions of bad levels... It is hugely more complicated tgan that.. Ie you really should drink 1.5 litres of water or naturally flavoured water per day-on top of normal drinks with caffeine etc.... It is hugely affected by grain products...

Do NOT assume its variating levels... Believe me its not!!
