Any Chinese recipes people would recommend?

Here's a very pretty starter:

Marbled Tea Eggs

Ingredients:
6 eggs
4 cups of water
3 tablespoons tea leaves
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon Chinese 5 spice powder
(total carb = 3g)

Instructions
Put eggs in saucepan, cover with cold water and bring slowly to boil
simmer for 7 mins
cool eggs thoroughly in cold water
lightly crack shells by rolling each egg on hard surface, don't remove shells

bring 4 cups water to boil, add tea leaves, salt and 5 spice
add cracked eggs
simmer covered for approx. 30 mins or until shells turn brown
let eggs stand in pan for at least 30 mins or overnight if possible
drain, cool and shell - the whites of egg will have marbled pattern on them

serving suggestion - cut into quarters and serve w low carb dipping sauce

Steamed fish: shred or cut into thin strips ginger and chilli peppers; heap on top of a whole white fish; shake some light soya sauce on top and steam it.

In Chinese, "you yu" (to have fish) sounds the same as "to have a surplus"; hence this is a lucky New Year dish as it symbolises having plenty in the coming year.

You could also prepare rice but not eat it: this symbolises having plenty of food in the coming year and combines the benefit of zero carbs with the disadvantage of zero nutrition. :)

Happy new year!

My version of Beijing roast duck....

Wash duck inside out and then hang until dry... this can take a couple of hours... if duck is already cleaned properly when bought then u can miss this step

Rub the duck inside and out wt a good amount of 5 spice powder.... leave for at least an hour...

Moderate fan over for at least 90 mins depending on duck size ..

Take out of oven. ... let stand for 10 mins then tuck in wt flat pancakes or on its own..... yummy!!

For our French Class in Monsegur tomorrow our homework is to translate a recipe into French & this is just the job I reckon. We had a belated Christmas lunch the other week at a local 'good' restaurant & for me it was **** eg. seafood starter was bits of shellfish in rice!
Thanks,
Roger
