You'll have to meet some guidelines. Probably renewed every year. Same amount of bloodtests etc and a couple of additional doctors texts. Providing you've got very good awareness and control you should be OK.

U will need to ring the dvla and tell them to send u the appropriate forms to fill in you will need to AV a medical with yr gp a consultant to fill in forms and blood machine to show u check yr blood sugars I use a contour Bayer as the last stage ov the process the dvla will send you to see their independant consultant to c yr blood machine u need 3mths readings or they will not pass ya and test yr blood sugars every two hours this as to b done every yr I've done it for 4 yrs runnin

In my experience you need to jump through hoops and they can (and do) turn you down without reason. I had major issues applying for my C1 provisional entitlement where both my GP and consultant cleared me for it on my application but I was then turned down by the DVLA medical board with no reason given.

However they are supposedly resolving these issues so it may be better now:

Also Denbo consider investing in a continuous glucose meter, thats what I got when I was going for an application and its fantastic, bit pricey though. I drive 3.5ton vans for a living and its a lifesaver even doing that.

The contour Bauer is just fine does wha it's suppose to do I get it free
