@Pilzy-89 Oh wow that's fantastic!! Bet you loved being able to see your little baby, how exciting! :D

I've finally got a letter confirming my appointment which is in a couple of weeks time, hopefully they'll be able to help me out so we can get the thumbs up to start trying.

@Pilzy-89 I'm so pleased for you! Must be such a lovely feeling!! How many weeks are you now?

MelissaC good to hear you got your appointment! They were fairly quick with your referral let's hope you get the go ahead in a short space of time also! Fingers crossed for you!

I just did an at home a1c test and I'm pleased to say it's at it's lowest since diagnosis 15 years ago at 6.8! Could not be more thrilled and It's given me so much motivation to keep at it!

Thanks x

I got them in America Melissa! I have family living there that either bring them back when they visit or post them to me. I find them great for keeping me in check!

@MelissaC it was lovely to see them, makes it all a bit more real your appointment must be very soon, I hope it goes well when you do have it

@wannabemammy well done you! That's great! I love the little at home HbA1c tester! I have family in America too, I might see if they can bring one across when they come stay at Christmas... are they super expensive?
Oh and I forgot to say, from the early scan it puts me a week behind the original calculation so am ~9 weeks they think. I have my dating scan on 19th December so will be have a much better idea of dates then

Hi girls @Pilzy-89 @wannabemammy

Had my pre-preg appointment today. We've spotted that my sugars running a little high after tea/before bed so she advised swapping my basal insulin. I am going to swap from Levemir to a new one called Abasaglar. Apparently Abasaglar lasts longer so it might help to keep my evening sugars under better control. I'm also going to try adjusting my bolus insulin ratio as before I was just doing 1 unit for every 10g of carbs - now it's going to be 1 unit for every 12g carbs at breakfast, 1 unit for every 10g at lunch, and 1 unit for every 5g carbs at tea time.

My last blood test was the end of September, so I'm going to book in for another one next month to see if there is any change, although I'm not really expecting a change yet! Then booked into pre-preg again for February to see how I'm getting on.

Should be Basaglar insulin, not Abasaglar! Got confused with how she wrote it in my book haha!

@Pilzy-89 they aren't too expensive $30-$40 depending what pharmacy you get them at...well worth the money in my opinion!! You must be so excited for your dating scan! Let us know how it does! So close to Xmas and all

@MelissaC that's great news! I've never heard of that insulin before! Are you splitting your doses to one in the morning and one in the evening? You'd be surprised how quick your a1c changes so you might see some change next month-it's like a motivation for you almost! You'll get good news in no time!

No news from my side. Wasn't successful this month so fingers crossed for next month!!

Hello @MellisaC I am on a pump so I have no idea about basal insulins as I am only on Novorapid. Injections seem like much more hard work, so well done you! So glad it is all rolling for you, best of luck with a1c and appointment in Feb

@wannabemammy I had my scan yesterday. All is well, littlest bean is still there, heart beating away and was moving around - think they were getting fed up with the ultrasound, kept turning their back to us unfortunately, the minimum requirement for the fluid at the back of the neck measurement and dating is 45mm. Littlest bean was 44.6mm! The lady said you're one day too early, if it had been tomorrow we could have done it all so I would say you are 11+1 but I can't officially date you yet. Soooo I have to go back again next Thursday in the space of time where people normally see theirs once I will have seen mine 3 times! I love it. I am so excited to see them again. I already have two different scan pictures and will get another one next week.

Aww, keep trying, it will happen soon enough! Plus will have a good birthday in September or October (I am October, best month to be born in ) Xx

@wannabemammy Neither had I, I think it's relatively new! No, I'm going to stick to taking the one dose before bed. She gave me the option of either splitting my Levemir doses or trying this new insulin - and I opted for the new insulin :) Yeah I'm hoping it makes a difference! I haven't got it yet though as have been waiting for the letter to get from the diabetes specialist to my GP.

Aww, keep trying my lovely! I have a friend who is trying for a baby at the moment as well. It's exciting waiting to hear if anyone has succeeded so to speak haha! x

Hi @Pilzy-89

Oh right, do pump users not have a basal rate to take as well? I'd never really though about that before!

I'm quite happy sticking to injections at the moment. If, however, I found that I was really struggling in months to come then I might ask to have the pump.

Just gotta wait and see....

:)

Just an update...

Just got my hba1c result - 61 down from 66. Not a huge difference but it's heading in the right direction. The new basal insulin that I'm on (Abasaglar) is helping though, but only been on it for about a month so this is why it's probably not made too much of a difference to my hba1c.

I'll just keep going!!

Hello! Sorry I think I missed the message before last with Christmas and all that (hope you all had a good Christmas and New year btw!)

The pump delivers the basal in smaller doses all the time using the quick acting insulin (Novorapid in my case).

Well done! So glad it's all heading in the right direction sorry my memory is rubbish (and I can't find the message with it in): what are you aiming for HbA1c wise?

I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant can't quite believe it still. Can't wait to find out on Valentine's Day if littlest bean is a boy or girl really struggled with low sugars for a while now, I am actually to a point where I am sick of lucozade, haribo and pretty much every sweet thing used to treat hypos!

Hope everyone is doing well xx

Pilzy good to hear the pregnancy is progressing well!

My update is I am 7 weeks pregnant today and over the moon! A1c at conception was 52 (6.9%) battling insulin resistance at the moment but otherwise doing well, had my first scan on Wednesday and everything looked how it should, please God I will have a steady pregnancy!

@Pilzy-89 My consultant said somewhere in the 50s would be good for me, not sure where abouts though haha! I am meeting her again on Thursday so hopefully she can help me to tighten up a bit more to bring it down to where it should be.

Oh wow how exciting! I bet you can't wait to find out whether it's a boy or girl! Ah yeah I have heard that women can have a lot of hypos in early pregnancy, hopefully they'll ease off for you soon.
