Hi all,
I have always wondered how children and early teens deal with their diabetes. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in February 2015 aged 21, and though I was forced to comprehend an immeasurable change, I was independent and astute enough to adapt and self-manage effectively (with a lot of trial and error!).
However, I find the act of injecting in public alienating, occasionally anxiety-inducing, and often impractical, regardless of the 10 seconds the act requires. Injecting doesn't stop me from living life, but I have noticed this recurrent trend.
I am now doing a small behavioural study linked to my postgraduate research at university. I am extremely interested in how children and early teens who carry and must use insulin pens feel about doing so in public.
I have put together a small questionnaire that really only takes two mins to complete. There are two versions of the survey.
If your child is able to answer the questionnaire themselves, please help me out by having them complete the following form: https://goo.gl/forms/qgyDLjl2BzjXeYyV2
If your child is too young, or if you wish to answer on your child's behalf, please help me out by completing this other form: https://goo.gl/forms/32IKoZ9Pmo027tz32
I would be eternally grateful to you! Let me know if you'd be interested in seeing the results too. But also, feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the thread!
