Is been almost 2 weeks since I've had my annual review and I still dont know the results of any of the blood tests that were taken that day! I have phoned lolts of times and I've asked at my GP surgery (they dont have access to it). I spoke to the consultants secretary on Friday and asked her to post out my results I still don't have them. Has this happened to anybody and what else can I do to get them?!

Yep, kind of... My old sugery's DSN used to phone or text me the results about a week later. She was like my own personal assistant..
My new surgery....? Lovely people, but.... :banghead:

Not being on holiday....
Yee gods the difference in GPs across the UK stagger me they really do.
I have my bloods taken then make an appointment for a follow up usually I week later.
In the meantime I can phone the surgery where the lovely ladies on reception give me my HBA1C but other information is dependent on whether my GP has looked at it.
The results usually take 3 days to come through.
All this is done through the surgery but anything involving a specialist the lovely ladies, and they really are, chase up on my behalf.
My surgery is 3rd best in the north west and 8th in the UK according to the CQC.

I know this information doesn't help you but going forward can't you arrange for bloods and results through your GP but then see your specialist as and when?

Good luck
Tony

Why do they take bloods on the review day?
Wouldn't it make more sense to take the bloods than have the review to discuss the results? That's what happens at my surgery, or at least that's how I book my appointments.

@Sarah69 - When I have had bloods done, following a consultant appointment, I have usually called, when the secretary will tell me the results, then she emails me conformation. They're also printed on the rear side of the letter following the appointment. The letter goes to my GP and I receive a copy.

Perhaps the secretary could email them?

That's how it's always done at my review. I've never had them taken before the appointment. I'm usually told at the appointment the results, well hba1c and cholesterol anyway!

I don't get a letter after my appointment and she won't tell me over the phone either! It's very frustrating! I'm going to call them again tomorrow!

You can ask that all copies of letters between a Consultant and GP are sent to you, just ask next time you attend the clinic.

People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.

Just ask your consultant (contact his secretary) and ask for a copy of letter sent to GP.

Something is amiss gere between your care teams and rhe best way is to ask your consultant each time to have a copy of GP letterbsent to you. Tgey have to up date your GP.

Contact consultant secretary....aak for a copy now.

If they arent updating your GP then they are actually failing in your care.

Is it your diabetes check-up results you are waiting on @Sarah69 ?

I was under the impression that all results from a hospital clinic where sent to a patients Dr's surgery for their own records, either way just chase things up again with the Consultants secretary.

It used to take a month for hospital results to be sent to GP. Computers should speed this up but experience has shown that this isn't always the case.

I have spoken to my GP pratice and I was told that they do not get the test results, I've spoken to the consultants secretary a week ago asking her to send me results surely it can't be that difficult. Its my right to know!
