My mom has just got this new monitor... It uses a cassette instead of test strips and they are integral to the machine itself ... activated by a sliding part. The finger pricker is attached at the side of the machine and can be used without removing it. Real neat jobby.
Certainly ideal for putting in your handbag.

i have been using this for about a year and found this machine good.i have to test 6 times a dAy

Too big, frequently inaccurate, wastes test 'strips', difficult to use in low light - great idea badly executed.
I've tried most meters and am currently using Bayer's Contour Next USB which I whole heartedly recommend. I'm also testing an iBGStar which when teamed up with a Delica finger pricker makes for an extremely small carry around package.

I disagree, IMO I consider it to be very accurate, just a feeling I get for meters when I take my BM while low. I love the idea of no strips, and I think it is very easy to use, and fairly slick It's just a shame it's so bloody BIG!!!

I've just been given one by my DN. It is my first and only meter so nothing to compare it with. I agree that wasted strips are down to human error - at least it was in my case. I wasted 3 during the first 24 hours when I was still getting used to using a meter, but none since. I now find it very easy and compact. Replacement cartridges are expensive, but can be found cheaper on-line.

I first used this meter 3-4 years ago and it is the business. The only downsides are size and noise - now that my GP will give me the cassettes on prescription. The strips are not actually any more expensive than most of the other leading brand meters. What really works for me is that it makes the testing process so quick and convenient, I can and do test anywhere. Anything that helps me to test more often, I consider to be a Good Thing.

Hi I'm a newbie. Only since february. Bought my tester as nurse told me gp doesn't give as type 2. Was very poorly so really wanted to get it sorted quickly. Since testing I feel more in control and understand what foods spike me. I'm this week getting single figures so am very pleased.
Wanted your advise people as I attended a diabetic awareness course and the specialist nurse there was disgusted my go didn't give me tester as am on gliclazide and she said I could get hypos.
She told me. To ask him for one on prescription and point out is is Nice guidelines. Don't want to antagonize him but it's very expensive keep buying t he supplies. Am not financially flush!
What do think?

The government guidelines for T2 glucose testing were quoted on here just the other day, and they said there must be a specific reason or goal for testing. Sounds like the hypos from gliclazide could be your specific reason to give to the GP.

Found it really accurate as well.

Been testing it along side my BG star meter an they both reading the same.
