Losing my mind

Is loss of memory anything to do with diabetes ??
This last month I've literally lost all sense of memory and it's starting to scare me
Not just little things major things that most people would remember

That's good then, if your concerned have a word with your consultant or gp.

I'm having the same thing. I can't remember conversations I had yesterday and am really scarred about this. I have also had to check my pump as I can't remember if I took a bolus or not. I have spoke. With my doc and am having some tests done for Thyroid and vitamin D diffiency - I worry as my dad had dementia and Uncle has Alzheimer's . Go see you doc x

I'm going to my doctors in the week and I'm really worried. How would thyroid and deficiency of vitamins have an effect on the memory? Xxx

Not really sure tbh. But GP said over active thyroid or lack of vitamin D could both account for my bad memory. Once have had tests they are going to do some tests on my brain lol could be interesting

Its a statin.a drug to reduce cholesterol. I only mentioned it as I have just stopped taking mine as I think it was making me a bit befuddled.....confused (as well as leg cramps) . It its known to cause these side effects in some cases.

It's a good idea to take Vitamin D (D3) supplements during the winter months owing to the fact we get less sunshine in that time - our bodies use UV, etc. to make Vitamin D... Also, there have been studies that show links between diabetes and vitamin D deficiency.

Ask for b12 and folate tests to be done.

Years ago I was really confused and forgetful. Drove to a customers road and couldn't remember where her house was despite her having been a customer for 3 years.... I did bg test and wasn't hypo.. Perfect in fact...

Gave loads of instances of forgetfulness to GP who sent me urgently to stroke unit...

they tested my blood and said I had B12 deficiency and folic too.

Years on now, my B12 is off the scale being high, and this is now being investigated.. (B12 Injections were stopped about 5 years ago). However, my brain function did recover and nowadays I just have normal daft forgetfulness.. Not consistent....

Peanut butter my favourite..

Tonight was slices of pork with peanut butter on and salad!! Peanut butter yummy.. I even take p.b sandwiches to my upholstery class for my class mates and tutor to enjoy!!
