Hi

I am type 2 and trying to conceive. I was on metformin, victoza, gliclazide and lisinopril. I went to visit Diabetic specialist and she has taken me off all my meds and now I am only taking 3 metformin per day before meals and 1 folic acid tablet. I seem to be struggling with taking only 1 500mg metforim as my bloods are still ranging between 6.3 (fasting) and 10.1, 2 hours after meal.

Can anyone tell me what meds they are taking to control their type 2 diabetics while trying to conceive or are already pregnant?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Its strange that she's reduced your Metformin. When trying to conceive your sugars need to be as near the targets as possible.
Im a pregnant type 1 so dont really know too much, but i know you can definitely take Metformin and insulin!

Hi Laura Jane,
I too am trying to conceive and type 2. But first in November they put me on insulin injections. My blood sugar s were at 10 so I had to get it down. It's taken until now to get it under 6.5 consistently, which has been a lot of hard work and change of diet. Low carb diet has worked. Now they've told me I can conceive safely. I'm still taking metformin four times a day as they said my insulin would work better with it. I'm also on 500mgs folic acid and vitimin D tablets once a day.
I hope this helps you. Good luck with everything.
