Just spent 9 weeks fumbling about with blurred and distorted vision because I had a retinopathy scare and stopped ALL sugar immediately, this was a shock to my system and the eyes responded accordingly. Finally the vision returned and life was good. Then my GP and the specialist decided to change my insulin, two weeks into it and my eyes have gone again. Really quite fed up and on the verge of demanding to be put back on the original medication. Is this latest episode of vision disturbance normal ?

I don't know but, What are your BG numbers ?
Blurry is normally from a change in BG at the lens.

Is BG levels that from the glucose monitor. Since the new insulin the figures have gone from 1.2 to a waking reading of 12.6 this morning.

Yep that will do it. What insulin/s are you on?
Sorry, BG is short for blood glucose and you're right, is your meter reading

I had 7 weeks of blurred vision after starting insulin for the first time, doctors sent me for eye check who'd said my lenses were fine so I must just need glasses, I ignored them and now my eyesight has gone back to normal.

Ok, are you keeping a diary and the nurse is adjusting or are you instructed to change your dose by 2 units at a time?
Don't act on this because I'm T2 but from reading here
My uniformed guess is that less morning novo for the daytime low and more novo at night with a 3:00am check for the 12.6 morning reading

As a T2, the best I can offer is to learn carb counting off the net ASAP because that helped me a lot

All that's happened is the GP has split the old dose of 48 for the new pen. 30 and 18 no mention of adjusting , but I am keeping a glucose diary which I have submitted to him. My understanding is that the GP specialises in diabetes.

Fair enough, do you email your diary and give him a ring or are you able to get prompt appointments
As you know you want to go between 4-8 BG in an ideal world

Any change in vision, especially if you have had a retinopathy scare should be investigated by your HCP's.

If the insulin regime they have changed you to is not working then you should tell them so and they will advise on adjusting your insulin doses or change you to another insulin regime. More often than enough blurred vision can be a result of high bg levels as the lens of the eyes can swell resulting in distorted vision, once bg levels return to normal vision is restored, but any concerns get your eyes checked just to be safe.
