Hi dunno if any of you guys ever had this and how did you find your solution.

Since I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Type 1 later relabelled type 2, now in my mid 40s I have noticed my erection is not as it was and it takes ages to get hard, I haven't been with a girlfriend for a few years prior to that since my erection disaster, this I put down to undiagnosed Diabetes it started about 10 years ago, gradually getting weaker. I no longer get spontaneous erection and had to rub it to make it hard, I visited a prostitute to see how it would work for me as I have been out of practice for a bit and being close to a live woman rather a porn film, it didn't quite work out the way I wanted. difficult to get an erection, the lady was quite understanding and said it happens sometimes, It may well be psychological due to the circumstances.

Started taking L-Arginine, Zinc, Pycnogenol, for a couple of weeks now to see how it works for me. anybody ever take Cialis ?

I'm seeing my Doc this week about it, I've had some blood test taken for my A1C and Testo levels.

Some feedback might be handy and what questions to ask my doc.

Thanks

Hi,

I can't really help you on that score I'm afraid..
Have you tried dating on a casual level with the possibility of a little harmless flirting purely on a "platonic" level..?
This could build confidence on a social interaction level with regards to the "scene" without the performance pressure..

I'm about the same age as you & type1. I was taken aback by my doctor when he asked how things are working down stairs.
As I reassured him all was good, he kindly let me know that he could offer the "blue pill" on prescription..
Nice to know it's there should I need it..!

I'm sure others will contribute shortly, although I appreciate that this is an unduly sensitive subject for some.

The best person to help you with this is your GP, but you need to remember that not everything can be attributed to diabetes and you're right to suggest that psychological issues may be involved.

http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-erectile-dysfunction.html covers it all quite well and should give you some ideas for questions to your GP. Also worth trying a search of the archives. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Welcome to the club. This link might help but I don't think it will cheer you up.

You beat me to it, Squire, as I was writing and checking my post ....... not good reading, I agree but equally my GP offered me the little blue pills as well so the idea must be pretty widespread amongst medics and if that is something that will help with the problem, vespa, you might be kicking an open door in asking for them.

(BTW, ally1 your unintentional pun did make me smile)

My nurse offered me the pills also but she won't give me test strips. I'm not sure they have their priorities right.

I went to join a golfing society on a public course once and on the membership form it said "Male Members £5. I said I would have two but the professional took ages before he laughed.

Thanks for your reassuring words.

There is a psychological aspect to it as much as physical. need to resolve the physical before tackling the psychological.

Testosterone is usually the first port of call from the Doctor, they can prescribe Testogel which is applied daily to the stomach in a gel form.
Some Doctors readily give out blue pills, others quiver at the thought and even refer you to an endocrinologist if levels don't improve. Even the blue pills can come with side effects such as headaches though, be they natural or chemical. Everybody's different.
But if course diet and exercise is key here.
Natural supplementation can come in the form of Maca, which can come in 500mg tablets and is touted with a range of supported benefits. Always seek guidance first though.

Have to agree with Jaylee on this one. Get yourself back in the game and see what happens when you naturally feel the excitement of being with a new partner. I can't think of anything more liable to make me shrivel up and die than a prostitute.

There are ED doctors you can be referred to. There are various treatments, depending on the cause
IMO
Buy a bg meter and test your blood glucose and make sure that is under control will be a big help.
as well as the standard no smoking or boozing
