basal rate question

I'm currently in the procedure of checking my basal rate. I'm currently testing my blood sugar every 2 hours, as stated by my nurse. However I don't think this makes sense because if there is an increase/decrease in blood sugar level, you can't be sure that it was caused by both readings. For example if my blood glucose raised between 8-10pm you can't be sure if it was caused by the basal between 8-9pm or 9-10pm? Hope someone could explain this thanks

Good point. Arguably if you are only testing every 2 hours then you should not program a basal rate change in your pump more frequently than every 2 hours.

Or, test every hour.

They are just trying to make it easier on you so you won't quit. ;-)
