Hi my name is Vicky and I need some help.

I have been T2 for 3 years I am meant to inject 2 different insulin and take metformin 3 times a day, I have never taken them, well I tired for 3 months and gained 3 stone, I don want to put on Weight as I cant do my bike riding, fitness classes.

What do I do, I feel rubbish all the time my BS is always high between 16-30, I am angry, tired, feed up, headaches and the list goes on, the doctors do not listen, the hospital do not listen.

For a illness I or because I was fat, ten to take medication that makes you bigger, makes no sense, your not fixing it.

I dont know what to do, please help

can you take your basal dose?
as you know, it's important to get your BG in range. you don't have to put on a lot of weight. you can be a matchstick with good BG if that's what you want

to lose weight, you cut the carbs which reduces insulin, take the metformin slow release if you get gut problems

http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf it’s a long page and a video

ask lots of questions and take it one day and one meal at a time

Hi Vicky, welcome.

First priority is to get your blood sugars under control, then think about the weight control. One could sort out the other (low carb). Good luck, ask any more questions.

Hi. Your blood sugar is way too high and will be causing damage. Metformin doesn't cause weight gain and is a very safe drug which many of us take. The main thing it does is help reduce insulin resistance due to excess weight and this helps a bit with blood sugar. You must take the insulin as prescribed as it will avoid the long-term damage high blood sugar can cause. Insulin only results in weight gain if you are eating too many carbs. The carbs must be kept down so do read all the food labels and go for the non or less carby foods. I'll be honest, it appears the GPs have done all the right things and it is up to you to follow their advice and take the medication; same things that I have. In summary, remember it's the high carb foods that cause weight gain and not Metformin and insulin. Good luck and do come back and let us know how you are getting on.

Hi, just touching base to see how you are going, is it starting to make sense to reduce your carbs to keep your weight down and that will reduce the insulin need, so you can take a dose that will keep your BG in range?

Hi thanks for this, I dont eat a lot of carb and I exeevidence daily, but injection and metformin made me put on 3 stone. Now I am losing the weight that I put on and scared to inject as I cant put on weight as riding from London to Paris next year and cant train if I put on weight
