Anybody had a lot of experience with Accu Check Mobile

Hi All,
I thinking of getting this for when I am socialising out and about because you dont need to fiddle with separate testing strips., I have a SD code free which i find pretty good, but I want the Multiclix or fastclix and it appears it's cheaper to buy the kit rather than just the Lancet tool.

I briefly used the Mobile when it first came out, I found it to be quite bulky and fiddly to handle, plus I thought the meter was reading higher than the Nano meter I had been using at the time, however times have moved on and I believe they've made some changes to the meter since then.

My practice nurse gave me one it weighs a ton and you need reinforced pockets or a rucksack to carry it around. I have left it in it's package as have no intention of using it. Will drop it back at the surgery when I next go past, another victim can have the pleasure of it.

Can you not ring the company and ask for one, they normally oblige

After you comments I don't think I'll bother, although I mainly wanted the Fastclix, but to get it on it's own is nearly as much as buying the whole kit, maybe your suggestion to ring the company and see whether they will give one free. I did start filling out their free form but they say it's for type 1s only.

How do they know you are not type 1? What they don't know wont hurt will it?

I have one and I disagree with everyone else!!!

I only use my Codefree because of the cheap strips. The Mobile cassettes are expensive, although can be bought at less than half price all the time on Ebay.

It is very easy to use. One piece of equipment, no messy strips, no disposal of strips, and I don't find it heavy - although being female I can carry it in my handbag rather than a pocket. It is very very easy to use, and can be done quickly.

The AC mobile is a brilliant piece of electro-mechanical integration. I also use Freestyle Lite and comparison results are always within 5%. I agree it is larger then some other meters, but it is so convenient to use when away from home. On first use, it is slightly more ackward compared to a system that employs a protruding strip, but you will soon find a good technique that makes it easy. In 6 months use I have only had a couple of tests which reported 'insufficient blood'. The trick is to have a hanging blood drop and just touch the drop against the test area. I would also say that you need a larger blood drop than the 0.3ul stated in the manual.

Thanks for this, I want it for exactly that just when Im out, but I'm also want the Multiclix/fastclix lancet as I told it much more gentle.

The mobile comes with a Fastclix device. If you want another Fastclix then the AC Aviva Nano is shipped with one in the UK and you can usually get a free one from Accu-Chek. Please note the Multiclix is different and uses different needle drums. Actually I prefer the Multiclix as it is a dual action prime and shoot device, whereas the Fastclix is single action.

Incredibly convenient and quick. It is IMO the best meter for on the go. I use these meters exclusively though - bedside, at work, in the car. 50 tests before you have to insert, remove or change anything. Genuine one handed operation. It's amazing. Fits in any jacket pocket or trouser pocket (front pocket is best) - and unlike other meters you don't have to carry anything else, no supplies or other gubbins.
The only reason I would use anything else is if I had to pay for strips. Even then the strips are the same price as most modern meters. Just not as cheap as the SD Codefree.

It's brilliant. If you register it on the web site, they will send you a free by pouch. Also batteries and control solutions and a diary to record your readings. I do find a curtain technique is required. I would not be without mine
