Hello Everyone,

I've decided to stop taking Metformin. My last Hba1c was 31, the previous one 33. I asked my GP if I should withdraw from it gradually but she said it's ok to just abruptly stop taking it. Did anyone else do this and did they have any withdrawal symptoms?

First question from me is to ask what is your current dosage?

I was on 2 x 500 mg a day and stopped abruptly. No issues and no affect on my BG as far as I could tell.

2 X 500g a day

Personally, I can't see why you couldn't go back to one per day ... that's what i did on GP advice. I'd suggest that to the doc and see what he thinks. Mike

I stopped it abruptly on the same dose as you and had no problems with it, except that I became hungrier again for a while. I had no choice because my GP wouldn't prescribe it for me anymore.
