Hi.

After I eat I am extremely sleepy and tired, any idea why this is happening.

Best regards.

Is it a carby meal your eating?
High blood sugar can do that.
It use to for me before I was diagnosed.

I get that a lot, I recently had a rice heavy dish when eating out. I felt like I had eaten about 15 Christmas dinners... It was horrible. I completely avoid rice now. Carby foods always spike my BG, I learned this the hard way. took a while to sink in and I still love pasta, but it is a learning process. I never feel that way after a hearty salad, or even some home made soup. :D

Be interesting to know a sample menu.

Are you leaving a large gap between meals so that you are eating more to satisfy your hunger?

Are you testing your blood sugars?

You may find that you will have to eat smaller portions of some foods or not eat them at all depending on your readings.

Sometimes food intolerances can make you feel sleepy after eating.

Soya doesn't spike my blood glucose, but it makes me feel VERY sleepy and I get brain fog. I will yawn for an hour or so, and be barely able to keep my eyes open. But within another hour I am back to normal.

I think also that its the high amount of carbohydrates. Over the last few months I have cut my carbohydrates down quite a lot, and found that I was feeling better, much better. Took a while for the penny to drop and your post illustrated the issue very well.
Reducing the carbohydrates is really quite easy, as long as you do it gradually.

I am eating under 30g of carbs a day but it doesn't matter what I eat ...

Could be something to do with blood pressure, have you checked this out ?

Best check out on Google, there is plenty of good information there.

It also might be worth considering other causes. Possibly worth getting a blood test for vitamin D levels and thyroid function. I do think we sometimes blame everything on our diabetes when it could be something else

I had that after eating or drinking something hot but it went away when I had my mercury fillings out. Selenium helped a bit.
