I live in Wales and what happens here and in Scotland is that the resources available are used differently than in England.
Wales and Scotland are traditionally more socialist in their approach to supporting people and communities while allowing business a relatively free hand.
Hence free prescriptions and education.
They are?and hence NHS England is doing a great deal better than NHS Wales at the moment.
Not sure but I think you can now go into a care home and keep seventy five grand of your money.I care about nhs however I also care about having bought own house and whats going to happen if I or hubby need a care home......
I have a DNR on my life, hubby hasn't but tonight he asked for it to be sorted out as no way does he want what we have to go to the govt for our care if we need care.
He also said that if anything happened and he died.. Same as me... That the other person left surviving should move to Scotland.
My voting won't just be on the NHS..
It all depends on whose opinion your quoting a a Welsh patient or a Tory minister!and hence NHS England is doing a great deal better than NHS Wales at the moment.
But why should you be able to, especially if you have no one to leave it to like me? It costs the country money to pay for you in the care home....Not sure but I think you can now go into a care home and keep seventy five grand of your money.

The health service is crumbling because of the lack of social care that the funding has been withdrawn from by the government!
Wrexham based doctor for the elderly on question time.
It shouldn't be about politics it should about healthcare before critical care and actually looking after the people!
I have no idea how true it is but not the experience of most people I know here.A House of Commons Report out recently. NHS Wales is in a worse mess than NHS England. Seems undeniable.

To be honest my reasoning is still biased towardspeople that have worked hard, saved and tried to pay for their own pensions...But why should you be able to, especially if you have no one to leave it to like me? It costs the country money to pay for you in the care home....
Hear! Hear!I have no idea how true it is but not the experience of most people I know here.
The ambulances will never be abvle to match England simply because of the nature of roads mountains valleys etc here.
The nearest copper to me on a 999 call to my house might be thirty miles away .... thirty miles of dark winding roads away.
If you live in Barmouth and your baby starts arriving or you're having a heart attack then you have to be taken to Bangor hospital sixty miles away.
Sixty miles of very narrow winding roadsso comparing it with England as a whole might not be realistic.
Average figures in England will naturally include massive cities and towns with motorway links and other modern roads and with services two three five miles away.... we don't have that here.
The averages here will be taken from small towns and very small villages and a population that live in neither but very remotely.
We have a lot of village hospitals.
If my doc wants me to go for a blood test I take the envelope to my nearest village hospital without appointment there and then so long as it's before eleven am.
Same with X-rays.
I doubt there many places in England that can be done.
My personal view is that government of any colour should fund the NHS but butt out on decision making.
I feel the same about education too.
Pay up then butt out.
My mum was allowed £23k, all these changes in the law that they keep talking about haven't filtered through yet.Not sure but I think you can now go into a care home and keep seventy five grand of your money.
Just one small point, may I respectfully suggest that you check the Institute of Fiscal Studies and look at public spending in the United Kingdom (United?). Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all have more money, per person, to spend, never mind spending the money on different things. We don't really have a level playing field by any means.I live in Wales and what happens here and in Scotland is that the resources available are used differently than in England.
