The Originals like many others at Motown started as backing groups.
They appeared on many of Marvin Gayes best work. When and if you listen to their songs, you will say to yourself, oh yeah I've heard that!

Further to the motown theme and the great artists. I believe I put this on another thread.
That one of the great Northern Soul Motown singers appeared at the Wookey Hollow club in Liverpool in about 1973. I went to see him. Don't know why I wasn't impressed. Maybe it was the beer or the small club.

I love his recorded stuff especially 'Time'
Some of his protest songs like 'War' & 'Stop The War Now' are excellent!

Just remembered another one: House of the Rising Sun - Frijid Pink.

(NB: Sixties one hit wonder, not Northern Soul classic :))

Ignorant people, diabetes!
Northern Soul? I LOVE Northern Soul

Here's a couple of classics, technically the artists aren't one hit wonders, but they were one hit wonders in the UK, enjoy :)

Michael Gove and his insane educational? policies!
Ha! Gotcha! (ironic Falklands reference :)) Robert Wyatt also had a hit with "Shipbuilding " in the 80's, though I always preferred the original version by Elvis Costello, who wrote it. As a 60's/70's prog-rock nerd I still live in hope of something by RW's first band, Soft Machine, making it into the charts :)

PS: four words to expunge Clive Dunn from your head: "Saint Winifred's School Choir" :***: :D
Nooooooo! My parents had this album! Quick cover my ears - they're bleeding!

Have you not be following the top ten choices thread then? That has a couple or more lists of my music I will do a special northern soul list soon mate, just for you!
The Snake is ok but for something obscure that I really like, it's called 'What' by Judy

I've been looking at my catalogue of music and something that stuck about Al Wilson, I really like another song he recorded called 'Show & Tell'
Have listen to it!

I do mean that one, but the guy that sang it was never heard from again
That was the first Karaoke song I was FORCED to sing but I made a bloody good job of it to the astonishment of the DJ. Got a massive round of applause too.
Couldn't keep me away after that.:singing::singing::singing:
