I have just wken up and realised i went to sleep withuot having taken my basal insulin or glucphage last night. (No I had not had a drink). I am now 7-8 hours late and 12.8. Your site advice says contact your health team but I am in Morocco and not due back to the UK for 3 weeks. My french and cetainly not my arabic are not up to consulting a local specialist plus I'm 150km from any sizeable town and 250 from a city. I'm minded to take it now but am not sure about getting future one back on time frame. Alarms and move back 2 hours per night?
Anyt suggestions?

Hi. I wouldn't panic. Having your blood high for a day or so won't matter unless it goes above 20 and stays there. If you have a Bolus as well then that can cover the loss of background control that the Basal gives you; you might need to increase the amount a little at each meal for the next day? Just measure your sugar regularly and use the Bolus as needed and if it was me I would just take the Basal at the next time it's due.

Hi, themaevequeen. How many basal units do you usually take at night? If it were me I'd just take a small dose (a couple of units) of basal now and maybe add one or two to your bolus calculations at the next meal, and then just monitor it. If you're still too high at the next meal after that, then again you might need an extra one or two units.

Don't panic. 12.8 isn't so crazy that it's going to do anything serious over one or two days. You should be able to handle it with just some minor adjustments over the next few meals.
