I have only been diagnosed as diabetic type two for nine days. I had a sugar reading of 10.5 and the reason I originally went to the doctors was I felt tired all the time and there was no way "little willy" would stand to attention for more than a few seconds. I have been put on tablets for the diabetes and also for high cholesterol with one cholesterol tablet every evening and having started on one 500mg tablet a day have been taking two (breakfast + evening meal) for the last two days of the metformin tablets. This has seen a marked improvement in my sleeping and a return of very firm morning erections which I have not had for years. I can now usually get a good erection when required but try as I may I cannot reach a climax with or without my partner. I was not issued with a blood glucose machine and am not due to see the diabetic nurse for more tests for another week. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if the sensitivity will return to my penis as my sugar drops. A bit embarrassing for me to ask this question but it is rather playing on my mind.

first of all congrats on the standing.
metformin isn't a side effect for non ejac that I have seen, look up your statin, also some antidepressants can cause this.
JMO and the Dr would know, but it sounds more drugs related...from info, flaccid or retrograde ejaculation is more diabetes related

or there may be some nerve or vascular damage. I wouldn't mess around and tell your dr. regardless how embarrassed you are. the ED clinic handle this stuff all day every day. just one of many...most diabetics are going to have some problems

Studies of ED suggest that its prevalence in men with diabetes ranges from 35–75% versus 26% in general population.

first thing I would do is get a meter. most are getting the cheap strips..SD codefree meter

if you buy extra boxes of strips there is a discount code ..5 packs 264086

while I'm waiting for that to come, I would cut my carbs

it’s a long page and a few good video’s

For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. they don’t give up easy

I lost 13kg and with LCHF and metformin, I got my BG back to normal

Thank's to both of you for your replies there is some interesting reading there. It is great to have a forum like this to visit for advice especially as I am feeling a little confused and apprehensive having only recently finding that I have diabetes.

It is not uncommon for people taking antidepressant medications to have trouble reaching orgasm, whether they're male or female. For most people, after some time to acclimate to the medication, that side-effect goes away. I would imagine that the fact that you're achieving erections now is a good sign that your sexual functioning will probably return to normal. Your doctor should be able to advise you more on what to expect.
