atenolol in pregnancy

I've just seen my cardiologist this morning. I'm on 75mg of atenolol for an irregular heartbeat and he said it was the safest one to be on during pregnancy, wich I'm not yet.

I just wondered if anyone else has been on it during pregnancy. I've read on the dreaded internet and it says it isn't safe to take. I want to trust him because he's a consultant but i just don't know.

The effects from when I've missed a dose are not very nice, heart beats very rapidly and irregular , short of breath and anxious.

Hi @vicjord,

There are certainly plenty of contra indications listed on reliable websites for when you are pregnant. for you and baby.
Might be worth speaking to a pharmacist as their knowledge of medications is reliable.

I'm going to phone the British heart foundation tomorrow see what they say too. I'm worried now.
