I typically play it by ear, but end up testing a lot.
I wouldn't say ignore it, and i wouldn't suggest any fixed amount of insulin per pint because everyones ratios are different, and every beer is different and cider, well that's usually WAY different.
I don't know what cider your drinking but a pint of Strongbow cider here in Canada has about 30g of carbs in it.
Darker beers, like Guinness is also up in the 15-20g of carbs range, and lagers i have found are down closer to 5-8g of carbs.
