HI - A quick question regarding basal rates, if you are having no carb breakfasts and lunch, how much deviation would you expect to see in your BS levels - thanks for any responses

Well they say if your fasting bg levels fluctuate by more than 1.7mmol you need to adjust your basal rates, but this may be too much for some people and its probably better to have your own target.

TBH I wouldn't test basal rates by missing two consecutive meals, better to do one at a time (if this is what you mean above) and test hourly, I started on a pump a few months ago and now have 7 different basal rates.

If you are having no carb breakfasts you are wasting your time basal testing as the fat and protein will cause your blood sugars to rise.
Basal testing is no food at all.

Hi @Topher if yr basal rates are not quite correct,, that will be the answer to yr other question re IOB although if you overestimated the carb that youhad and delivered more insulin, that could also explain why yr bg came back to yr target within 3hrs and not 4hrs. Pumps are hard work at first but with time, you will find yr way with a bit of trial and error and bg testing
