Hi, I know it might sound like a silly question, but are you allowed to take your blood glucose meter in your hand luggage/cabin baggage on a plane? It's more the lancets I'm thinking of with it being needles? I know they keep changing the rules all the time and a couple of weeks ago baby formula was a "threat".

I've never had a problem with glucose meter or injection kit - or even two injection kits, which I once carried because I had to inject myself with both insulin and heparin. That was on CX, but I doubt other airlines would be different: after all, they don't want to risk a passenger going into diabetic coma on board. I suppose you could carry a letter from your doctor (or a copy of your prescription if your meter and strips are prescribed) just in case.

I did have to ask for a special bin for used sharps, though I've noticed on some flights these are already in the loos so you don't have to ask.
