Am soon to fly out to US and tad worried about food on flights. Got a 9 hour one followed by a 5ho ur one.

What gluten free and low carb snacks / treats would you take on board?

9bars are gluten free, around 10g carb depending on which variety you choose and portBle as well as satisfying :) Also Babybel cheese, they withstand a lot of travelling .

I have been known to break up poppadums in to crisp sized pieces, but do check that they are gluten free - some aren't.:( Mine are from Aldi so quite cheap !

Make your own coconut macaroons.

Go and buy gluten and carb free stuff from the Low Carb store on line.

Nairns oak cakes! Cheese flavour, lovely! 3 carbs per cracker, really hit the spot!

Make your own vegetable crisps? Using courgettes, aubergines and beetroot!
I do this and love them .
Using a thin vegetable peeler to slice them up easily .

Place them on a baking tray and gently bake in the oven .
Sorted! Very easy to pack these too - in a Tupperware box .
Nibble when needed - on the plane ?

If you eat meat you could take individual wrapped pepparami things - OK if eaten or disposed of before reaching US customs.

I take nuts, pumpkin seed and mini cheese, which I try to eat before I reach US, and homemade coconut and almond biscotti these keep well in a ziplock bag and are tasty low carb etc

and Olives - my favourite :) I buy the small sachets of Olives that don't need chilling and don't have excess liquid in them. Usually only take 2 packs on a flight as need to eat them before entering US and we typically do direct flights.

Will be watching this post for new ideas for August :)
