Plain fish, tripe, porridge, pasta, boiled rice,
Possibly not that yummy.
Fishcake has a lot of potato, and the cheese also has a lot of carbs, it's not just pure fat like a piece off a block.
Never knew cheese contained carbs, Sunnyexpat! Well, you live and learn - just where do the carbs come in? I thought it was 100% fat. My wife is celiac and eats lots of cheese because it contains no carbs and no gluten, she says.

That's why it's a favourite snack for anyone on LCHF.

Check out the 'cheese' in a fishcake.
It's not a nice, yummy, slice of cheese off a block of pure fat cheese, it's a carby cheese sauce.

I think @Kingsland was querying cheese as in a cube or two from a block, not a cheese sauce that obviously has carbs in it.

We were commenting on the lunch the op had.

The comment quoted also stated a block of cheese is pure fat.

(But even that's actually untrue, it has protein as well)

Got my test strips from the pharmacy and my sugar levels are coming down from over 33.3 at 1pm to 29.4 now and about to have half a steak covered in morrocan spice, with veg, chips, onion rings and breaded garlic mushrooms.

@akindrat18, how many times have you been told to cut the carbs? Why are you having chips and breaded mushrooms? Replace the chips with extra veg (green leafy type) and have just plain mushrooms without the bread coating. Your readings are way too high. I'd be having 40 fits with those readings. You've either got no will power or you've lost the will to live. Think sensible, healthy food, not carbs. For heavens sake think about the food before you shovel it in. Sorry to be blunt, but you don't appear to have learned anything from the supportive, helpful comments that have been posted.

Wow, I'm impressed with your cooking!
Why not have a whole steak, plenty of vegs, no chips and no bread on your mushrooms?
You have surely been told to avoid potatoes (full of starch) haven't you? you seem to eat a lot of potatoes, and are the onion rings in batter by any chance?
I had a huge plate of chicken stew (called something or other fancy in Italian) but its basically chicken and bacon in vegs which were peppers, courgettes, onions (no spuds but there were a few bits of carrots which contain carbs) and some mushrooms and garlic and herbs - thickened with a dash of double cream. Then I had some strawberries (more carbs) and more cream. Now I'm full and won't need to eat again till breakfast.
I might snack on a few nuts as I see we have some packets of brazils in the cupboard.
We also have some natural unsweetened full fat yoghurt in the fridge, but I'm not too keen on that, and there's always cheese if I do get hungry. There are no biscuits in the house and no crispy snacks - there are a few apples but they're carbs, oh and there's some 72% 'Signature' chocolate but its not very nice. I would really like a beer but there isn't any.

I also had steak tonight. Rib eye, with mushrooms and courgettes and a home made peppercorn sauce. It was fab.

Oh I give up!
What have we been saying? Have you even looked at the websites we've recommended? Well, here to save you the bother, is a list from the Diet Doctor of what you should and shouldn't eat. Can you bring yourself to print it off (or copy it by hand if your printer isn't working) and PIN IT UP IN YOUR KITCHEN (actually thats what I did.)

This may not post properly as its 'copied' from another site - but see if you can understand it.

3. What to Eat
Eat all you like
  • Meat: Any type, including beef, pork, game meat, chicken, etc. Feel free to eat the fat on the meat as well as the skin on the chicken. If possible try to choose organic or grass fed meat.
  • Fish and shellfish: All kinds: Fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel or herring are great. Avoid breading.
  • Eggs: All kinds: Boiled, fried, omelettes, etc. Preferably organic eggs.
  • Natural fat, high-fat sauces: Using butter and cream for cooking can make your food taste better and make you feel more satiated. Try a Béarnaise or Hollandaise sauce, check the ingredients or make it yourself. Coconut oil and olive oil are also good options.
  • Vegetables that grow above ground: All kinds of cabbage, such as cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and Brussels sprouts. Asparagus, zucchini, eggplant, olives, spinach, mushrooms, cucumber, lettuce, avocado, onions, peppers, tomatoes etc.
  • Dairy products: Always select full-fat options like real butter, cream (40% fat), sour cream, Greek/Turkish yogurt and high-fat cheeses. Be careful with regular milk and skim milk as they contain a lot of milk sugar. Avoid flavored, sugary and low-fat products.
  • Nuts: Great for a TV treat instead of candy (ideally in moderation).
  • Berries: Okay in moderation, if you are not a super strict or sensitive. Great with whipped cream.

Read the nutrition label in the grocery store.
No more than 5% of carbohydrates for a food is a good rule of thumb.

Avoid if you can
  • Sugar: The worst. Soft drinks, candy, juice, sports drinks, chocolate, cakes, buns, pastries, ice cream, breakfast cereals. Preferably avoid sweeteners as well.
  • Starch: Bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, French fries, potato chips, porridge, muesli and so on. Wholegrain products are just less bad. Legumes, such as beans and lentils, are high in carbs. Moderate amounts of root vegetables may be OK (unless you’re eating extremely low carb).
  • Margarine: Industrially imitated butter with unnaturally high content of omega-6 fat. Has no health benefits, tastes bad. Statistically linked to asthma, allergies and other inflammatory diseases.
  • Beer: Liquid bread. Full of rapidly absorbed carbs, unfortunately.
  • Fruit: Very sweet, lots of sugar. Eat once in a while. Treat fruit as a natural form of candy.

Once in a while
You decide when the time is right. Your weight loss may slow down a bit.

  • Alcohol: Dry wine (regular red or dry white wine), whisky, brandy, vodka and cocktails without sugar.
  • Dark chocolate: Above 70% cocoa, preferably just a bit.
Drink on most days
  • Water
  • Coffee: Try it with full-fat cream
  • Tea

Sudden thought - don't go binging on choc just because we've got a little bit cross with you! If you go to that dratted shop, get yourself some nuts or even pork scratchings - NO CHOCOLATE - please!

Water is definitely a great idea. I drink a pint with each meal and have at least another one in between meals. Feeling hungry isn't a bad thing to feel once in a while mind. You could try tricking your mind into thinking you're full if you use a smaller plate.
Well done for avoiding the evil carbs, although go easy on the peas and carrots!

I'm now going to bow out of this thread. You have received an enormous amount of help and suggestions and yet you are still eating chips and breaded mushrooms tonight. Like @Kingsland, I give up. I have better things to do instead of trying to prop up an individual who won't help themselves. You may find your support network dries up too.

We all have will power. I have just quit smoking after a lifetime. It's hard and a struggle, but I'm determined to succeed and prolong my life as much as possible. This should be your attitude.............

Edit. Just seen your post. Pleased to see that you avoided the obvious culprits, but why not increase the steak and veg? If you're still hungry, snack on some cheese and/or cold meat

I've given up on a lot of things for this goddam condition that I let myself get out of control! Its not like I'm eating takeaways every night. I miss having sushi, pizzas, chinese food and Indian food. I am trying my **** best here to change, I have had problems with food and have been for 10 years.

Right now, I am still hungry after downing 2 pints of water and considering going to bed soon as my family have got the snacks out again watching the x factor. I have had only 50g of carbs with 30g from breakfast, 0 for lunch as I had no lunch and 20g from dinner. I am literally shaking and having one of the worst migraines ever. I do not want to fail, neither do my parents, I've lost 5 stone in a year and to me that is impressive.
