I am not coping with my diabetes anymore. I hate it and I've been trying to ignore it, but then I end up ill. I don't see the point anymore, I'm not taking injections. I just want someone around my age to talk with, that understands what it's like to feel this way. I was diagnose when I was 11 for anyone who is wondering

Hi Ashwee, what a pretty girl you are, assuming that is you in your picture. You will not be the only teen who gets burnout and can't be ***** to self care. In fact many diabetics simply decide to stop insulin, eat everything they really should not be eating, ON PURPOSE.
Some do it to lose weight, some to fit in with their peers. Many feel "safer" running a bit higher, as most of us know how nasty you feel before, during and after a hypo, right?
I am not even close to your age, but things I have done in the name of hating diabetes would have you checking your pockets for the key to the padded cell. I am not a born again Diabetic, neither am I judgemental, so maybe if you are willing to share with the great folks here some more details of your issues, I have no doubt something can be sorted

Although not your age, I think I know how you are feeling. I am a newbie diagnosed with T1 approx 12 months ago. I already feel this is too much for me to deal with on a daily basis. I've read more about diabetes and the issues and to be frank, the more I read the more confused I get.

Hi ashwee99. Sorry to hear that you are feeling this way at the moment. Having diabetes is hard and everyone has highs and lows. And burnout is quite common. Im 21 and was diagnosed With T1 when I was 9.
If you want some one to chat to. Or have any questions please ask.
Possibley sit down and think about firstly why you feel like this, and is there anything you can do to change how you feel. Then possibly put a plan in place. Just a small step at a time. Do a blood sugar a day or take all your basal insulin. Etc.

Hi ashwee....Sorry to hear that u r feeling this way...
I am 19 and was diagnosed when I was 17
To deal with diabetes is difficult.Even I used to feel the same way...but then,it can't be ignored as we should live with it...so instead,I started to accept it and lately I feel a lot better....
Just sit and think y u feel so...give it a thought...and then u can figure out..
make sure to check ur BG levels daily and when u find them normal..it will make u feel better...

Hi Ashwee99 from the photo you look like such a beautiful strong girl with your life only starting and it's so sad to hear you struggling but unfortunately that is a downside to Diabetes, depression and the way it makes you feel is that why should I care anymore what is the point? now I am not your age I am 28 and I have thoughts just like this at one stage last year I just stopped taking my insulin and checking my blood sugars because I had enough of it I was tired of being treated as if I was wrapped in bubble wrap, I was being watched by family because they were afraid that I was going to commit suicide I was put in hospital and I didn't care I had enough of it I ended up ill and then my doctor said to me that he was thinking of putting me on an insulin pump because at least then I was going to be taking my insulin. Its terrible when you just get tired of it looking after yourself but what made me turn was I looked at my family and I just thought what would happen if I killed myself and it would be terrible I'm not coming you to me I am just trying to empathise with you there is light at the end of the tunnel you keep your head up honey I have diabetes 4 years and its hard but all of us me, you and everybody else keep your head above water and show how strong you really are

Love you. Please do not stop taking your injections you really need to take them to keep you alive. I know how you feel, why me, I hate this Diabetes, I want to be like my friends, the list goes on. But at the end of the day the injections will make you feel better because you know they will enable you to be like your friends. You are pretty, I bet your parents are worried.
In the 1970's there was a pop song called Sugar Sugar and the school children on the bus would sing it to me. I used to cry because Type 1 Diabetes was so rare. But I live to tell the tale. Please talk to someone they can help you.

I'm 18 and was diagnosed with type 1 before I turned 3 so I know exactly how you feel. I'm so sick of doing blood checks and working out much insulin to take. I also end up ill a lot from not making an effort with my health, but I realised I need to start making more of an effort lately. Don't try and fix everything at once, just take it one step at a time. Start by making sure you do a bloodcheck in the morning, then one of the evening and build everything up from there. If you start feeling overwhelmed slow down your progress. Hope this helps X

hi hun.i was diagnosed type 1 at 2 years old, 37 years ago. i fought it in my early teenage years by not testing, eating what i wanted, living in dka. This led to all the really bad complications. it has taken until i had my son 12 years ago to finally come to terms with diabetes.it can be hard, at times frustrating, but its all about having a good support system. please don't give in, its horrid but is noe part of the amazing person you are. trust me when i say that you can learn to live with it.im here to chat to ok.sarah.

I'm kind of going through the same thing.. Been in this kind of limbo state for a while now and just struggling to keep up the constant awareness you need. Not doing unbelievable but managing to not fall apart so far. I've had it since I was 5 so thought I was well used to it but a lot of outside stuff made me sick of my Diabetes and I'd stop taking shots, take them after I eat instead of before etc.
Please do give me a shout because I don't exactly know anyone else with Diabetes so think it could be good for both of us

I've been diabetic since the age of 4 (coming up 20 years) and I was exactly same as a teen. I just gave up caring, I stopped doing my injections and started eating and drinking whatever I wanted. It took me nearly 6 years to get some decent control again.

I still have days where I sit and cry because I don't want to do this anymore. I think it's part and parcel of the condition.

You aren't alone in how you feel, I think everyone who has diabetes goes through these stages.

Maybe see your Dr about seeing a diabetic nurse, I think they are much less judgemental than consultants tend to be. I like my consultants but sometimes I find it easier to talk to my diabetic nurse. I'm the only one with diabetes in my family so I struggle to talk to them about it.

Hey ash it's ok you will get there I struggled all of us do but look on the bright side it's better than just being high and our blood loaded with keytones especially when your a teenager your bloods are all over the place mine is my hb1 levels are sometimes high and just right but you will get there just don't give up xx

Hiya. I was diagnosed at age 11 and I'm now 15. I can honestly say I struggle with the same thing. The daily routine gets annoying and I get tired of being wrapped up and treated like a baby, as if I'm not capable or trusted enough to live a normal life.
Yes, it upsets me too because I get fed up and just feel like crying because I just wish none of this had happened, but now it has, I'm struggling but just managing to get things back on track because I've been skipping injections and just eating.
Sometimes you just need that little bit of will-power to make you see how serious this situation is, and maybe if you started getting back into this routine, it will become normal for you, just like a routine you might do when you wake up or before you go to bed. Its difficult but take it one step at a time. You can talk to your specialist or a family or friend if you feel you need it, and sometimes it helps if you talk to someone in the same situation so you don't feel like youre the only one doing this.
